1860 Rifle Range Orders
Only holders of a valid NRA Safety Certification Card (SCC) may shoot unsupervised; all others require 1:1 supervision by an SCC holder acting as RO.
STOP STOP STOP = CEASE FIRE. Hands off and await instruction.
Firearms must be visibly safe with a breech flag fitted; if not possible (e.g., bolt-action), the bolt must be removed.
Firearms may only be loaded on the firing point, pointed at the target, and with RCO permission.
All firearms must be cleared by the RCO before fitting a breech flag and leaving the firing point; until cleared, keep pointing downrange.
Firearms must be sighted in using an approved NRA method. No sighting anywhere except the firing point with RCO permission.
No HME rifles/ammunition without prior RCO approval.
Home loads must be declared and may require chronographing.
Only members who have signed and lodged the NSRA Reloading Code of Practice may use homeloads.
Energy limits: non-HME ≤ 4500 J; HME ≤ 7000 J; Velocity ≤ 3280 ft/sec
Firearms must be carried barrel up, with fingers away from the trigger.
Shooting positions permitted: Any, no standing on D Range
Hearing protection mandatory on/near the firing point and in the butts; eye protection recommended.
No shooting under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
Misfires must follow the approved misfire procedure (below).
Shooters must ensure their firearms are in safe working order.
Misfire Procedure (Condensed)
Keep firearm pointed downrange for 30 seconds.
Raise your hand, inform the RCO, and warn nearby shooters.
Open bolt with hands clear of bolt travel path.
Inspect ejected round; seek RCO assistance if unsure.
Dispose of defective rounds appropriately (FAC holders may take home; otherwise hand to NRA Range Office).
